In Memory of Wayne Hamilton
The whole road racing community
was shocked and saddened by the tragic death of one of its brightest young
stars, Wayne Hamilton, during the Junior Manx Grand Prix on Monday 29th
August.
Since his road racing debut at
Bush in 2009, Wayne had displayed a dazzling talent that saw him taking
victories in Ireland and at the Isle of Man Southern 100 races. The opening race day of this year’s Manx
Grand Prix Festival saw Wayne conquer the Mountain Course with a win in the
Newcomers A Race.
On the same Monday of Wayne’s accident, our 2012
roadracingsupporters.com calendar was in full production at the printers. The inclusion of an image of Wayne at the
S100 takes on a special poignancy that we all feel. The editorial decision to include Wayne in
this year’s calendar, along with the likes of established stalwarts John
McGuinness and Ryan Farquhar, was in recognition of the enormous potential that
the young Portadown rider undoubtedly had and we believe he was set to become
one of the greats of the sport.
Wayne’s family and his friends and sponsors at
Emerald Road Racing have requested that in his memory, the road racing bodies
that benefit from the proceeds of the calendar are to be the recipients of any
donations that people may wish to make.
Roadracingsupporters.com is honoured to have been asked to facilitate
this process and donations can be made via the button on this page.
All monies raised will be distributed to the Rob
Vine Fund, the MGP Helicopter Fund and the S100 Helicopter Fund. It is fitting
that such organisations that enable the road racing to continue will be
supported, allowing other talented men and women with a passion for this incredible
sport to follow in Wayne’s footsteps and fulfil their dreams.
We thank you for your contributions in
memory of this remarkable young man.
